History of Maqbaratoshoara (Tomb of Poems)

Tabriz has long been popular among poets and writers for living. As we see in history, after the formalization of the Atabakan government of Azerbaijan in Tabriz, many mystics and poets who were fascinated by peace free from war and conflict came to this region. Like Khaghani, who migrated from Shervan, and Shahpour Neyshabouri, who moved from Khorasan to Tabriz. Therefore, locating this number of tombs in one city will be expected. However, the exact date of construction of this tomb is not available. But we still come across historical sources and books in which the name of this tomb is mentioned. The oldest inscription referring to this tomb and the people buried in it is the Labab al-Bab by Mohammad Awfi. This book talks about the graves of Khaghani and Farabi. Also, in the book Nozha al-Qulub by Hamdallah Mostofi in 740 AH, we can find about the Sorkhab cemetery. Therefore, the construction of this tomb can be attributed to around the 8th century AH.

Maqbaratoshoara  is located in the Sorkhab neighborhood, one of the oldest and noble alleys in Tabriz. The existence of holy places such as Rabe-e Rashidi, Haidar Takiyeh, Seyyed Hamzeh Tomb, Sahib Al-Amr Mosque, Qajar House and Museum, etc. has increased the fame and prestige of this neighborhood. This neighborhood feels different. A classic Renaissance atmosphere in which men wear English tuxedos and women wear a small English umbrella and hat and continue to walk. But this time in the streets of Hazaravik at night. This monument was not safe from the earthquake and was damaged, which led to the restoration in the coming years. We should say that this place was known by different names, such as Hazira Al-Shoara, Hazira Al-Qadha, and Sorkhab Cemetery.

This geometric structure with intertwined arches is one of the unique architectural attractions of Tabriz. The creativity used in the design of this structure is the result of the taste of Forouzan Mehr. His design won a competition held in 1350 AH to symbolize this tomb. Until today, it has adorned the city and has become one of the characteristics of Tabriz. An interesting point in the design is the extraordinary combination of traditional architectural elements with modern style.
