Introduction
Abo Atash Park is one of the most attractive green area of Tehran, where is very popular among the citizens. The park takes its name from the two main symbols of purity in ancient Persia, named Abo Atash (Water and Fire). These two symbols also have roots in Persian religious stories; hence, the other name of the park is Bustan Ebrahim. The unique complex of Abo Atash Park was opened in 2009, and over time, various sections have been added to this complex. Today the Abo Atash Park has become one of the largest green spaces where consist of distinctive parks called Nowruz, Solar System, and Ports Park in Tehran. The Abo Atash park includes of unique sites and spots in all seasons; In spring, the blossoms of the trees produce an extraordinary aroma and colour. In summer, due to the dense trees, the park climate is pleasant, autumn is the most suitable season for morning sports. Winter whiteness also gives the park a stunning environment. The park’s architecture is unparalleled and perhaps somewhat ultra-modern, which is why it possesses a variety of sights. Amphitheater
The amphitheater of the Abo Atash Park is a large and open area in the park of Ibrahim Prophet, which has been built to promote artistic and cultural works and hold religious and ritual ceremonies, celebrations, and street theaters. Abo Atash park tent canopy is one of the most prominent examples of membrane structures in Iran, with a capacity of 750 people.
Fire towers
Fire towers are another symbol of the park. These four towers are on the east side, and their height is 10 meters. Fire towers are used every night at sunset and dark, displaying hot flames up to 1 to 8 meters high. The view of the fire towers in the dark of night is fascinating and spectacular for park visitors.
Water fountains
The water fountains are located in a circular environment and throw water from 240 different points up to 10 meters high into the sky. The water columns are in the ground; they are designed so that people can move over them and continue on their way. These fountains have become a different place for water play in the Abo Atash park, particularly in summer. You can find the water fountains near the fire towers in the Prophet Ibrahim’s garden.
Steel curtains
If you are interested in the story of the prophets, go and watch the steel curtains, which depict the events of the life of Prophet Ibrahim, and these steel curtains are placed around the Ibrahim Prophet garden to learn more about his life.
Lighthouse
The lighthouse is one of the most famous and majestic symbols of the Abo Atash Park. Locating in the Park of Ports (Banader), it is a white structure that brings the atmosphere of the sea and sailing to the green space of the Abo Atash Park. Climbing it, you can feel the city under your feet. Of course, we should mention that being on top of the lighthouse is not available at present, and it has not been announced for its reopening.
Nature Bridge (Pol-e Tabiaat)
Nature Bridge is one of the landmarks of the city that shines with brilliant and colourful lightings and presents a panorama view of Tehran. One of the reasons for the Abo Atash Park’s popularity is its location next to the Nature Bridge; since most people who visit the bridge also visit the parks and facilities around it. Such a three-story bridge is a perfect and attractive recreation centre where you can spend hours exploring the space and enjoy seeing Tehran from a height of 40 meters.
Enamel Dome (Gonbad-e Mina) Skyscraper
It is one of the highest skyscrapers in the Middle East that has provided sparkling opportunities for astronomy enthusiasts in Nowruz Park with its night sky observation program and scientific-recreational visits. People can also enjoy entertainment, workshops, and astronomy movies. Mina Dome is a complete scientific collection that is at the centre of the attention of all people, especially curious teenagers.
Caspian artificial lake
The Caspian artificial lake is one of the most popular sections of the park. These lakes have three parts, and together they form a small image of the Caspian Sea. While walking around the lake, visitors can experience delightful moments in the pavilions and green space and enjoy tasty and varied foods from the stalls. By visiting this lake, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy the cool weather, tranquility, and freshness of this park.
Square of Fame (Mashahir)
There is a rectangular square known as the Square of Mashahir (Greats), at the end of the Abo Atash Park, in front of the entrance from Africa Boulevard, in Nowruz Park. At the beginning of the square, there is a gate designed in authentic Persian architecture style and surrounded by several sculptures of Persian celebrities. Such an open space is also a proper place for skating and robotic competitions. The most prominent sculpture in the park’s collection of statues is the Siavash’s, one of the mythological figures of Iran.
Tourism Passage
The passage has 40 booths enabling you to buy all kinds of handicrafts and cheerful souvenirs from diverse parts of Iran. The Abo Atash tourism passage is located near the amphitheater and inside the Hazrat Ibrahim’s park.
Sports in the Abo Atash Park
In addition to its unique sights, the park is an ideal place to exercise. Moreover to the skating rink and bike path, there are other facilities for exercising. Badminton at the amphitheater, ping-pong tables near the artificial lake and around the Caspian Sea, as well as the sidewalk throughout the park, provide you the opportunity to enjoy a variety of sports.
